About St. Charles, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

St. Charles, Missouri is a restored historic city on the Missouri River that has been welcoming visitors to its shores since it was founded by French Canadian fur trader Louis Blanchette. Initially, the city was called Les Petites Cotes, ("The Little Hills").  This, somehow, eventually evolved into “St Charles.”  In its early years, the town often welcomed visitors from numerous nations.  At that point in history, travel was still quite dangerous and there was no protecting oneself from the hot beating summer or the icy winter wind.  This hub was culturally diverse and the people and businesses were equipped to handle tourism, trade and travelers.  This was not true of all towns or cities in the area at the time.

In this way, the town grew into an important center of trade for pioneers. It was a vital destination for travelers coming through the area, because of its strategic position on the river and its entrance to the western territory known at that time as the Louisiana Purchase.  It is the oldest city on the Missouri River and the river is a focal point of the town.  As the seasons change, so does the river and its surroundings.  Each change bringing forth an even more beautiful town than before.

It was in Saint Charles in 1804 that William Clark and Meriwether Lewis departed up the Missouri River seeking the route to the Pacific Ocean.   This amazing connection to this important piece of history is commemorated today in a monument.  It was also the home of pioneer Daniel Boone and his family. He created Boon's Lick Trail, which runs through the Saint Charles countryside.  If you are looking for something fun and relaxing to do on a pretty spring or summer day, you might consider walking the trail and soaking both nature and history all at once.
